MICHAEL JACKSON TO MAKE FIRST UK PUBLIC APPEARANCE IN 9 YEARS AT THE WORLD MUSIC AWARDS  

Lindsay Lohan to host; Beyonce to open; Mary J Blige, Rihanna, Faithless, Usher, Katie Melua, Andrea Bocelli, Bob Sinclair, Enya among artists confirmed;  Gwen Stefani, Nelly Furtado due to be announced

London 29^th October - On November 15^th the most famous pop star on the planet Michael Jackson will be honored with the Diamond Award at the worlds most international music award ceremony the World Music Awards. This year London has the honor of hosting this spectacular extravaganza in its 18^th year. In the UK, C4 will broadcast the special on Wednesday, November 22nd.

International celebrities from the world of film, fashion, TV and sports will present the awards to the recording-artists who will perform live before an audience of stars, the world's media and thousands of music fans. 

Lindsay Lohan will host the show hot from her recent success as MC of Saturday Night Live on the NBC network; performing artists include Beyonce who will be opening the show with a scintillating performance of DeJa Vu. Mary J Blige will be receiving a legend award for her Outstanding Contribution to R & B Music and will be performing a medley of her greatest hits. The latest R & B sensation Rihanna will be performing S.O.S. Katie Melua; best selling European female artist of the year will also be performing along with classical heartthrob Andrea Bocelli, DJ sensation Bob Sinclair, and Britain抯 best dance trip hop group Faithless.  Gwen Stefani and Nelly Furtado due to be announced shortly along with other major international artists!

Michael Jackson will be appearing on stage as part of a spectacular tribute to Thriller. 2006 marks the 25^th anniversary of Thriller the world抯 best selling album of all time. Thriller, produced by Quincy Jones, has sold over 50 million albums around the globe since its release in December 1982. Thriller has changed the landscape of pop music and has continued to capture the hearts and inspire people all over the world. The World Music Awards will honor Michael and his unrivalled contribution to music by honoring him with the prestigious and much coveted Diamond Award. The 2006 World Music Awards will be just as spectacular as always. Awards will be presented to the world's best-selling artists as well as performances from the industries biggest and brightest.  Unlike many other awards shows, these awards are decided by the public as opposed to an industry panel. The World Music Awards are a reflection of genuine public opinion and are achieved by record sales.
